El museo se financia, en parte, con fondos públicos del Departamento de Asuntos Culturales de la ciudad de Nueva York, en colaboración con el Ayuntamiento y el presidente del distrito, Mark Levine, y los concejales Carmen De La Rosa y Shaun Abreu.
