Metamorphic New York table with oval top on conforming hinged, split case having hinged lid, drawer compartment, leather upholstered U-shaped seat, and maroon cloth desktop supported on scrolling legs and feet. Design was patented by Stephen Hedges (possible patent number: 10,740; April 4 or 10, 1854).
