Volunteer
Docent Responsibilities
Docents at the Mansion share the history of the land, the house, its residents, and collection by leading guided tours for our museum community. Mansion and Grounds tours are currently held on the exterior of the house at 11AM Saturdays on Sundays. Docents also give private tours during the week and additional weekend times depending on necessity. Given the vast history of the grounds, house, and its inhabitants, docents assess the tour group audience to discern their areas of interest and ensure those topics are covered throughout each tour. Docents must attend a general house tour training, exhibition related training sessions, and quarterly workshops with staff to inform docents and volunteers of upcoming events and programs at the Mansion. If you enjoy engaging with people from all over the world, love history and story-telling, we strongly encourage you to reach out to us! Not interested in giving docent tours? We often need help hosting community events! Fill out the form below and indicate that you are interested in general volunteering.
