Tickets to tour the Mansion required for access to activations.
Celebrate women of the past, present, and future all day long at the Morris-Jumel Mansion’s Women’s History Month Kick-Off!
With the price of admission to the Mansion, drop in at any time from 11:30 AM-2:30 PM to experience multiple activations throughout the house featuring a live art demonstration by Andrea Arroyo, visual artist and creator of the special exhibition “Faces and Facades”, the Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra, live readings by Poet Lisa “Rubi G” Ventura, and a talk by Margaret Oppenheimer, author of “The Remarkable Rise of Eliza Jumel” on the Women of the House during the Jumel’s residency. See below for a detailed schedule of events.
11:30: Andrea Arroyo presents “Women as Inspiration”, a live art experience, Second Floor Gallery
12:30: “A Daughter of Rhode Island”, Author Margaret Oppenheimer will read from her biography “The Remarkable Rise of Eliza Jumel,” and share some material that didn’t make it into the book about nightlife in Providence during Eliza’s childhood.
1:30: Mini Concert with the Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra, Octagon Room
2:30: Poet Lisa “Rubi G” Ventura Reads her works “Between Hell and Hearth” and “Elegy for Truths Disappeared from History [Books]”, Second Floor Gallery
The festivities begin at 11 AM, when the Mansion opens to the public. Activations begin at 11:30 AM. Stay for one, or stay for all! Last admission to the Mansion is 4 PM.
