This month’s Connect260 session will be a brief pause in the chronology of the series to celebrate one of the Mansion’s most celebrated times of the year- the Halloween Season! Many visitors, tourists, and neighborhood friends often ask “Is the Mansion really haunted?”, and the paranormal has become one of Morris-Jumel’s most well known attributes! To honor this connection, which has played a role in the Mansion’s history throughout the 260 years it has been here (Eliza Jumel purchased the home at a significant discount because of rumored hauntings!) we are proud to present a discussion with Robert Cozzolino, curator of the exhibition “The Paranormal in American Art” to discuss the connections he’s drawn in examining the two subjects through the same lens.

About Robert Cozzolino:
Robert Cozzolino is an independent curator, art historian, and critic based in Minneapolis. He curates collaboratively, in partnership with artists, colleagues, and broad communities. He is the editor of Supernatural America: The Paranormal in American Art. This stunning catalog explores the numerous ways American artists have made sense of their own experiences of the paranormal and the supernatural, developing a rich visual culture of the intangible.
