Portraits of My Community

Portraits of My Community features a selection of mixed-media artworks portraying the people of Harlem, Washington Heights, and Inwood. The project celebrates the intertwining of cultures in Upper Manhattan neighborhoods, presenting a social commentary on the diversity, beauty, and resilience of longtime residents, newcomers, and immigrants. The artist re-purposes packaging materials ─ familiar objects we use and discard  ─  to reflect on environmental issues, while honoring the everyday life and joy in our communities.
