ConEd Family Day: Design Your Own Hand-Held Fan!
Saturday Aug. 13, 1–3 PM
Free, registration required
Stay cool this summer like they did in the past by designing your own hand-held fan! Before air-conditioning was invented, people kept themselves cool by using hand-held fans. These fans could be simple or elaborate, and people could even send messages to one another by holding their fans in different positions. Learn more about the secret language of fans and make your own unique fan during this month’s Family Day!
Free with pre-registration. Limit of four places per family.
Safety Requirements: This socially-distanced workshop will be held outside of Morris-Jumel Mansion on the bluestone patio. Masks are required for participants over the age of two when social distancing is not possible. Your health and safety are our top priorities. Please be assured that the museum will follow guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), New York State, and New York City for increased health and safety procedures. By completing our registration process, you agree to abide by our visitor guidelines and procedures, which serve to keep our museum community safe.
